We've been enthralled by the intricate electronic works of British-Nigerian experimentalist Tony Njoku for a while here at TMR. Coming into his own in 2020, Njoku's 2020 EP JUSTINE, saw the ambitious artist exploring new sonic territory, introducing orchestral elements and avant-garde production techniques to his unique vocal style and intriguing sonic perspective. Prolific and consistently good, last month's offering 'DEATH BY DIMITRI' plays like a banging existential crisis, showcasing Njoku's darkness-steeped dancey side, whilst continuing to build on his fascination with unusual electronic elements, for which he names Björk and Arca as influences. To come across an emerging artist so bold and so talented is rare and we can't wait to hear what's next from him. -Holly Mullineaux
